Welcome to the Next Door community! |
Dear members of the Next Door network, we would like to introduce you to the aim of the project, our activity so far and the results that we have foreseen. |
What is our objective?
NEXT DOOR aims to promote social capital within neighborhoods, fostering protection of elderly citizens, increasing levels of self-esteem, and the quality of life.
NEXT DOOR relies on the development of skills of professionals working for the community at the local level, improving technical and social competencies to support better job performance and their contribution to the cohesive region, putting together community organisations and training providers.
Our expected results
Methodological framework on how to engage stakeholders from different levels around the issue of protection and care for older citizens in the community
Digital tool acting as a learning and communication resource which will target 3 categories: older people, neighbours, and organisations
Awareness and capacity-building programme providing knowledge to community workers, municipalities, social and health services on how to put into practice a neighbourhood approach
NEXT DOOR model for neighbourhood’s participation to protect and care for older citizens being a manual in a guide format for the implementation of the project in other stakeholders’ context.

Our team
We are a team of 8 organisations from 7 European countries, each with a solid background in social innovation projects – from vulnerable people inclusion to community engagement or education. The transnational partnership will provide quality results to answer the needs of the older people, neighbors, and civil society organisations.
What have we done so far? |
Consultation sessions with national and local stakeholders regarding the protection of the older citizens. We discussed with organisations, community workers, neighbours, and older adults and collected data on the older people’s needs, as well as organisations’ challenges in promoting their services to the target groups.
Produced national reports and a set of recommendations based on the implemented sessions at the partnership level. Currently, we are working on a more comprehensive European report which will be delivered in the following months.
We have started mapping the needs for the digital tool development.
