Welcome to the BestCare4LGBTQI+ community! We are excited to introduce you to our project and share the work and efforts towards accomplishing what we’ve set up to do.

ABOUT BESTCARE4LGBTQI+
The BestCare4LGBTQI+ is an Erasmus+ funded project designed to support the development of LGBTQI+ friendly older care services, provide tools, awareness-raising materials and learning resources to home care and residential care services managers and staff. A project that wants to ensure a better adapted, more respectful, and inclusive care for LGBTQI+ older people living in care facilities.

WHO WE ARE | THE PARTNERSHIP
We are a team of five organisations from five European countries, each with a solid background in social innovation projects - from vulnerable people inclusion to community engagement or education.
We are: Afeji (France), EaSI (Romania), Anziani e Non Solo (Italy), K-Mop (Greece) and Caso50+ (Portugal). |

OUR EXPECTED RESULTS
- “Make me feel at home”: A report summarising the experiences and perceptions of older LGBTIQ+ persons and care professionals to provide recommendations for a better service provision of care for older LGBTQI+ users based on storytelling.
- Training for more inclusive care services: a training programme targeting health and social care professionals that will include topics like: human rights, discrimination, emotional and social specific issues about LGBTQI+ older people and more.
- Train the trainers: This learning programme will equip the trainers with tools to replicate the training course, thus enhancing its scope and impact.
- A methodology for awarding a Badge of Excellence for inclusive residential care of older LBGTQI+ service users: a practical resource for professionals to help them implement strategies to make their services inclusive for LGBTQI+.
- A database for inclusive care: a free multilingual database that provides a searchable repository of practices, policies, tools, and lessons learned in relation to inclusive care for older LGBTQI+s.

CURRENT PROJECT STATUS
Our first important milestone is the creation of “Make me feel at home” - a multilingual captivating booklet with 45 testimonies of older LGBTQI+ people and professionals. We are happy to let you know that we are now in the final stages and we’ll be able to share it with you soon.
We have also begun work on our second result – A training course for more inclusive care services.
