MAKE ME FEEL AT HOME ā€“ a storytelling experience

ā€œMake me feel at homeā€: Proposals for a better service provision of care for older LGBTQI+ users based on storytelling is finally here!

Working alongside professionals and older LGBTQI+ people, the partners created a captivating booklet with 45 shared testimonials. A valuable foundation for the development of the next results, this insightful booklet allowed the partners to detect the needs and expectations of older LGBTQI+ residents as well as of the professionals willing to build more inclusive services.

TRAINING FOR MORE INCLUSIVE CARE SERVICES
A course that will include topics like: human rights, discrimination, emotional and social specific issues about LGBTQI+ older people and more. During a training which took place on 27-30th of March in Athens, Greece, we delivered a first version of the training course.

The purpose of the training was to test and discuss the adequacy, feasibility, and quality of the curricula, training material and tools developed for the training, and fine tune it according to the feedback received from the participants. Upon implementing the recommendations received from the training, we will pilot the course in each partner country with representatives from management areas, professionals, and staff of at least one service care.

We will assess attitudes, beliefs, and behaviours (intended) towards LGBTQI+ people as well as the managersā€™ willingness to implement changes to make their organisation more inclusive and LGBTQI+ friendly.

TRAIN THE TRAINER

We have also begun working on our third result, a learning programme for trainers, which will equip the trainers with the proper tools to replicate the previously developed training course, thus enhancing its scope and impact.

A METHODOLOGY FOR AWARDING A BADGE OF EXCELLENCE FOR INCLUSIVE RESIDENTIAL CARE OF OLDER LBGTQI+ SERVICE USERS

This result will be a practical resource for professionals designed to help them implement strategies to make their services inclusive for LGBTQI+. The partners have already begun working on it, and are about to begin a research process to identify similar initiatives and good practices.
